23 Months Plus a Day on Flickr.

For the Penultimate entry in our “Plus a Day” series, I figured I should go all out. Everyone shoots pictures of their toddlers with a 4x5 view camera in a studio setting, don’t they?
Remarkably, it all went very smoothly. Trajan sat patiently for 6 shots this afternoon, and another 5 this evening for a total of 9 shots (Dad forgot to change the film a couple times and got a couple double exposures!)
Hard to believe that he’s turning two in less than a month. He’s become pretty much an unstoppable force in the last month and it’s all we can do to keep up. Almost always happy, he’s started to throw his weight around a bit when he doesn’t get what he wants now but, it never lasts too long. He’s my main man and my face hurts pretty much all the time from laughing.
Shot on a Linhof Technika III with a Linhof Select Schneider Xenar 150mm f/4.5 at f/11. Lit by one Elinchrom 250 Monolight through a 60cm translucent Elinchrom umbrella with a Larsen Reflectasol panel for a bit of fill on the sadly discontinued Fuji FP-100b instant film. Down to just one pack of this lovely stuff remaining. When that’s done, I think I’ll have to sit down with a nice bottle of scotch and have a long cry.
Now, if anyone’s got a Deardorff and a few hundred dollars they want to donate for October 14th, we can go all out for the final shot in our plus a day series and shoot on the new Impossible Project 8x10 film. Oh yeah, I’ll need a processor too! :-)

The patio of the Gallery Café at the Vancouver Art Gallery is by far the best place for a nap in town. So calm, so peaceful. I’ve done it myself.
The Coffee’s not bad either.
Reason to Quit on Flickr.

I’m pretty sure that in the Employment Insurance Act of Canada, one of the specifically listed justifiable reasons to quit your job is ‘Office Drum Circle’. Quite certain there’s mention of this in the Geneva Conventions as well.

My Take on the Rolls Royce on Flickr.

Since Eric and Mike have posted theirs, I suppose I might as well post my take on the Rolls Royce we came across on Saturday waiting to take a newlywed couple to their matrimonial bliss.
Sadly, not quite the shot I wanted, maybe I’ll look through the viewfinder next time. I should’ve panned left to include the happy couple getting their pictures taken on the steps of St. Andrews. The guy with the cane though, perfect.

An interesting thing I noticed at the PNE this year, the water feature of the lovely Italian Gardens in Hastings Park appears to have been designed to align with the Sun’s path during the fair itself. This is looking west in the late afternoon.
Nice touch.
